Spring is here

A quick shot of some flowers that have started to bloom in my garden, which are currently the only colourful thing in my garden. However it does mean that spring is here, and I shall be looking forward to all the flowers blooming to give me some opportunities with shots containing lots of vibrant colours. I will especially be looking forward to seeing the gardens at Wollaton Park, Nottingham bloom in their full glory.

Not the most technically perfect of photos (it looks good from a distance!), but have a look further down in the post if you want my own personal breakdown of the photo, its flaws and what  I can do to improve on it next time.

Not the most powerful of shots, I was far too close to the subject which made focusing quite difficult. The colours however are a welcome change from the amount of green and greys that are found in most of my photos. They are also not the most healthy of flowers, I blame the dog personally. I will bear in mind in the future to set myself back a bit and take into account my lenses minimum focusing distance.

Whilst I like the depth of field, I should have used a smaller aperture so make the depth of field a bit deeper, so the nearest edges of the petals aren't out of focus. Another point, along with the minimum focusing distance that I will bear in mind next time I take any shots of flowers.

Minimal work in photoshop was done, predominantly a slight change to contrast and a crop and rotate to give a more appealing angle to the shot.
