Not the most technically perfect of photos (it looks good from a distance!), but have a look further down in the post if you want my own personal breakdown of the photo, its flaws and what I can do to improve on it next time.
Not the most powerful of shots, I was far too close to the subject which made focusing quite difficult. The colours however are a welcome change from the amount of green and greys that are found in most of my photos. They are also not the most healthy of flowers, I blame the dog personally. I will bear in mind in the future to set myself back a bit and take into account my lenses minimum focusing distance.
Whilst I like the depth of field, I should have used a smaller aperture so make the depth of field a bit deeper, so the nearest edges of the petals aren't out of focus. Another point, along with the minimum focusing distance that I will bear in mind next time I take any shots of flowers.
Minimal work in photoshop was done, predominantly a slight change to contrast and a crop and rotate to give a more appealing angle to the shot.
