A gravestone and some ivy

Distractions, distractions for most of the week, however I did manage to get out and go to the General Cemetery, just off Canning Circus, Nottingham and get a good handful of good shots that will all be uploaded with my comments on each.

So, time to get the ball rolling again (I am determined not to let this blog become forgotten about).

I do quite like this one, even if it is not necessarily the strongest out of the "keeps" from the day. I think the angle of the grave, and the way the ivy has grown around the grave provides interest and focus for this photo. I opted to post the colour version of this photo as I like the contrast of greens against other shades of green (ivy on grass action there) and the colours really make the bland grey colours of the gravestones really stand out.

Though, the ivy near the bottom of the grave is a bit out of focus which is bugging me. Also the glass on the building in the top left hand corner is also distracting, as the blue really stands out. I also think the gravestones in the background are slightly distracting from the main focus of the photo, but they do also provide secondary interest.
